Another successful weekend for Team Englin

523ff336-2cf6-4edd-990f-dcdb02c75536.JPGDavid’s momentum continues to build as new activists join the ranks of Team Englin each week. Yesterday, David led another crew of volunteers taking his campaign to the doors of the voters of the 45th District. “It’s so inspiring to see new faces each week giving up their time and energy to fight for change,” said David. “I can’t thank all of our volunteers enough for their energy and commitment to the future of Virginia.”

While David and volunteers were out meeting voters, Shayna represented Team Englin at the official kickoff event of the Dana Lawhorne for Sheriff campaign. Dana is running for sheriff after an outstanding 26-year career with the Alexandria Police Department, and David has encouraged his supporters also to support Dana.

“Shayna and I wish Dana well, and we look forward to doing everything we can to help him get elected after the June 14th primary,” said David.

Today, after spending some time with Caleb teaching him to ride his new push scooter, David was back knocking on doors. Steve Hoeschle, who was last week’s Volunteer of the Week, joined David, as they continued sharing David’s strong progressive message with voters.

Capping off a successful weekend of campaigning, David spoke with Alexandria Young Democrats this evening at their first organizational meeting of the year. David is the only Young Democrat in the race, and he is committed to energizing the grassroots through this campaign. He emphasized the palpable energy and excitement of his growing army of volunteers and invited Alexandria Young Democrats to join the effort.

David shares his passion with Latino activists at candidates forum

a9467127-0bf4-40c9-890c-0a403cae521b.JPGDavid shared his passion and his strong progressive message with Latino activists today at a 45th District candidates forum hosted by the Democratic Latino Organization of Northern Virginia (DLOV-NOVA). David used the opportunity to share his thoughts on affordable housing, health care, education, human rights, and fighting for the needs and interests of Northern Virginia.Following his remarks, David took questions from the audience. DLOV State Chair Philip Vasquez asked David how he would make sure he represented every part of the 45th District. David noted the time he has already spent in the Arlington, Mount Vernon, and Lee parts of the district meeting and listening to voters.

“I’m already proving my commitment to the entire 45th District by listening, organizing, and mobilizing voters in every part of the district,” said David.

Alfonso Lopez asked David how he would engage the Latino community to fight the anti-immigrant legislation put forward in this year’s General Assembly. David first noted that these are not merely Latino issues, or issues that only matter to any one particular group, but they are issues that affect us all. David then said that he would listen to the Latino community to make sure he knows and understands their concerns, and that he would use his demonstrated ability to mobilize Democrats to lobby the General Assembly and put a human face on the issues.

“When my grandmother and her family were driven from their homes and fled to this country seeking freedom and opportunity, the word America also meant another word…hope. Republicans in Richmond are trying to erase that hope,” said David.

David enjoys successful fundraiser as his circle of support continues to grow

Crowley hosted a fundraising reception for David yesterday evening with the support of Rabbi Jack Moline and Rabbi Brett Isserow in Dan’s home in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood. With a strong turnout despite the snow, David enjoyed the opportunity to introduce himself to a growing circle of supporters.“David is the right candidate at the right time for the Democratic Party in Virginia,” said Crowley, who was President Bill Clinton’s Special Assistant for National Security Affairs, referencing David’s military background. “We need David’s energy and experience in Richmond to make sure we are more secure while respecting our privacy and protecting the liberties that make us unique as a nation.”

David shared his strong vision for Northern Virginia and noted the energy and commitment his growing army of volunteers continue to devote to the campaign.

“My sincere thanks to Dan and Laura for opening their home to us, to Dan and P.J. for hosting, and to the host committee and guests for their generous support,” said David. “This is a race for the most votes, not the most money. I am confident that my campaign, my volunteers, and my message resonates with voters, and I thank you for helping to ensure we have all the resources we’ll need to win on June 14th and lead Northen Virginia into the future.”

David and supporters rock the George Washington Birthday Parade

More than three dozen of David’s supporters marched and chanted for the future of Northern Virginia, giving David by far the largest and most energized contingent among the candidates for the 45th District. Carrying Caleb on his shoulders, David ran along the parade route shaking hands and meeting voters. Shayna also took the opportunity to talk with voters along the route about the campaign. After the parade, Team Englin returned to David and Shayna’s home for pizza and camaraderie. After a quick slice, David hit the campaign trail again to spend some time knocking on doors in the rain to share his message with voters in the Arlington parts of the 45th District.

“Shayna and I want to thank all of the volunteers and supporters who made this such a successful three-day weekend for the campaign,” said David. “We had a terrific time, and we look forward to many more successful campaign weekends to come.”

Earlier in the day, David stopped by a working session of the Virginia Progressive Democrats of America to introduce himself and share his strong vision with activists who are d6948b7b-d96d-423c-8fbb-be62990987c1.JPGworking to build an effective organization of progressive Democrats in Virginia.
