National talk radio show highlights David’s campaign

david-phone.JPGDavid was a guest yesterday on The Tony Trupiano Show, a nationally-syndicated progressive talk radio show. The host, Tony Trupiano, introduced David to his listeners as, “A progressive who embraces the fact that he’s liberal and isn’t afraid to just be who he is.”David and Tony discussed the direction of the Democratic Party, David’s experiences at the Pentagon on 9/11, the national progressive blog David founded, and the importance of Democrats fighting for their principles without fear.

“If there are any politicians listening to the show today, go to DavidEnglin.org — you can learn something there,” Tony told his audience.

David, Shayna, and Caleb support a fellow Democrat on their way to the science fair

David, Shayna, and Caleb dropped by yesterday evening’s special Happy Hour at Portner’s in Old Town in support of Greg Werkheiser’s House of Delegates campaign on their way to the annual Science, Math and Technology Fair at Caleb’s school. Greg is fighting to unseat an extremist Republican incumbent in Virginia’s 42nd District, and David has encouraged his supporters also to support Greg.

“Shayna and I wish Greg and Marion well,” said David. “They represent the kind of fresh energy that will carry Virginia Democrats into the future.”

Caleb got ahold of the campaign camera and played paparazzi (see photo above) as the Englins dashed off to his school. During the annual “Scimatech” fair at Alexandria’s Cora Kelly School for Math, Science, and Technology, David helped Caleb’s kindergarten teacher show off a hands-on experiment with heat, light, and shadows.

“I’m constantly amazed at the energy with which Caleb’s teachers approach their work and with the innovative and creative ways they teach science and math to Caleb and his friends,” said David.

David motivates high school Democrats

david-hs.JPGSpeaking to Young Democrats from two high schools in Fairfax yesterday, David encouraged them to get involved with one or more of this year’s the many Democratic campaigns. “Whether it’s for the House of Delegates or a statewide office, these races are about your future, and this is a chance for you to have a voice,” David told the students. “Progressive values — Democratic values — are traditional American values, and you have the power, through your energy and your enthusiasm, to help Democrats win.”

The young men and women from Oakton High School and James Madison High School grilled David on a wide range of issues, from affirmative action to legislative redistricting to the death penalty.

“These young people are the future of our Commonwealth and of our party, and it’s great to see them so informed and engaged,” said David.

David goes to Richmond

capital.JPGDavid spent Monday in the General Assembly meeting with members of the Northern Virginia delegation. While he was there, he took the opportunity to lobby Delegates to oppose Republican-sponsored legislation that will dramatically cut money for housing programs in Alexandria and Arlington, including programs that help teachers, fire fighters, and police officers live in the communities they serve. David delivered copies of a letter from the Alexandria Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, of which he is a member.David also attended a House Education Committee meeting and had a chance to join AFL-CIO members at the daily House Democratic Caucus meeting, and he shared his vision with a number of Delegates, Senators, and Democratic activists.

Team Englin still knocking on doors!

After spending more time meeting and listening to voters in Mount Vernon, it is becoming ever more clear that people from all parts of the district support David’s Progressive Agenda for the Future.David is committed to energizing the grassroots through this campaign, and we can’t thank our volunteers enough for helping us fight for a progressive future for Virginia!
