David joined Democratic officials, activists, and supporters yesterday evening at Guapo’s restaurant in Shirlington for Arlington Democrats United for David.
“The outpouring of support from fellow Democrats in
Arlington has really been amazing,” said David. “Even though I’m from Alexandria, my Arlington friends have embraced me as one of the family, one of their own.”
Yesterday’s event was hosted by delegates Bob Brink, Al Eisenberg, and Adam Ebbin; Arlington County Board Members Jay Fisette, Chris Zimmerman, Barbara Favola, Paul Ferguson, and Walter Tejada; Arlington Commissioner of the Revenue Ingrid Morroy, Arlington
Treasurer Francis O’Leary, Arlington Commonwealth’s Attorney Richard Trodden, Arlington Sheriff Beth Arthur, and Arlington County School Board Member Libby Garvey, one of David’s former primary opponents. Jim Turpin, Margo Horner, Jeff Liesemer, Peter Rousselot, Alfonso Lopez, Jane Bergen, Josh Israel, the Arlington County Democratic Committee, the Arlington Young Democrats, and the Virginia Partisans.
“I look forward to being part of such a terrific team in Arlington,” said David.

Many thanks to the Vote Strong Volunteers who continued to reach out to voters and build the grassroots during this week’s Volunteer Nights on Tuesday and Wednesday. While David was out knocking on doors and sharing his vision in person, volunteers made hundreds of phone calls to voters in the 45th district for our David and to voters in the 32nd district for David Poisson.
“I’ll never be able to thank our volunteers enough for their hard work and their commitment to building the grassroots for the future,” said David. “I’m confident that, together, we’ll win in November and be a strong force for sensible, progressive legislation in Virginia.”
Team Englin culminated another busy weekend on the campaign trail today with a successful Fall for the Arts Fundraiser for David at Alexandria Councilman Rob Krupicka’s home in Del Ray. Delegate Marian Van Landingham, Delegate Brian Moran, Delegate Adam Ebbin, Delegate Bob Brink, Delegate Al Eisenberg, Senator Patsy Ticer, Arlington County Board Member Barbara Favola,
Arlington School Board Member Libby Garvey, Mayor Bill Euille, Vice Mayor Del Pepper, Councilman Rob Krupicka, Councilman Paul Smedberg, Councilman Ludwig Gaines, Councilwoman Joyce Woodson, Councilman Andrew MacDonald, and others hosted the event.
The hosts each donated a piece of original artwork to the auction to raise money for David’s campaign efforts. Former Delegate and Councilman David Speck entertained the guests as the auctioneer. 
“It really meant a lot to me that the hosts put so much thought and effort into producing some beautiful pieces of art,” said David. “We’re lucky to have such a committed team of progressive leaders at both the state and local level, and I look forward to working closely together to keep electing Democrats and to fight for sensible, progressive legislation in Richmond.”
On Saturday, David and volunteers spent the day knocking on doors and talking with voters throughout the 45th district. David focused his energy on the Fairfax part of the 45th, joining Maggie Britvec, the Democratic precinct captain for Cameron precinct, sharing his strong progressive message.
Sunday morning, David joined other Alexandria dignitaries at Beth El Hebrew Congregation, where David, Shayna, and Caleb are members, for the ground breaking of the Rabbi Arnold Fink Study Center.

Sixteen fantastic volunteers came to Campaign Central last night to make an unbelievable number of phone calls, get the voter files up to date with all of the Democrats we’ve talked to at their doors and on their phones, and get a huge mailing out the door. Special thanks to Matt Munsey and Gertrude Bailey for staying into the wee hours to finish up!
Last night’s volunteers ranged in age from 2nd grade to “he’s not saying” and came to Campaign Central from all three parts of the 45th district (Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax).

With still more new volunteers joining the ranks of seasoned Team Englin veterans, Campaign Central was brimming with grassroots energy this evening. Meanwhile, David spoke to voters and activists in the Mount Vernon part of the 45th district at the monthly meeting of the local chapter of the Jewish women’s group Hadassah. As a Jewish candidate, David was invited to share his thoughts on “Judaism and the political life.”
“It was an honor to have a chance to share some thoughts with the Mount Vernon chapter of Hadassah, and I look forward to working together to fight for sensible, progressive legislation in Richmond,” said David.
With just under seven weeks until election day, Team Englin continues to fire on all cylinders working to win votes for David and the entire Democratic ticket.
Alexandria—David Englin, the Democratic candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates in the 45th district, announced today the success of his campaign’s fundraising during the 2005 election cycle. Englin raised a total of $123,921 through the end of the most recent reporting period, including $17,990 in contributions during the latest period, July 1 through Aug. 31.

a Happy Birthday. Brian’s birthday bash included words from special guest retried General Wesley Clark, and Brian’s older brother, Congressman Jim Moran, and it raised a good sum of money toward Brian’s efforts as caucus chair to elect more Democrats.
