David and Caleb shave heads, raise $16,000 for children’s cancer research

200807311518.jpgThank you to everyone who donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to sponsor David, Caleb, and the seven other Alexandrians who had their heads shaved yesterday, raising nearly $16,000 for children’s cancer research! Jill Cetina organized the special St. Patrick’s Day event on behalf of her three-year-old daughter, Camille, who has kidney cancer.

200807311518.jpg“We’re lucky to have people like Jill in our community who have the courage to turn their own pain into action to help others,” said David. “I’m incredibly grateful that she asked me to be part of this, and I’m glad that our shaven heads will help make a difference.”

200807311518.jpgDuring moving remarks before the shaving began, Jill shared some of her experiences as the parent of a toddler with cancer and noted that it would take just $25 million for Congress to fully fund children’s cancer research.

If you didn’t make the event, it’s not too late to donate! Click here, and please give generously to help find a cure!

“It’s awesome!” said Caleb of his new haircut, after volunteering to be the first shave of the day.
