Team Englin yesterday evening hosted its semi-annual Community Cookout in Alexandria’s public housing neighborhood know as the Berg. As the record-breaking heat of the day began to subside, families came out to enjoy some food, cold drinks, music, and the company of friends.
“This is always one of my favorite events,” said David. “I’ve gotten to know so many of these kids and their families, that it’s always fun to catch up, see how much the children have grown, and find out what’s on their parents’ minds so I can serve them better.”
Andy Rivera from the Advancement Project was on hand to provide assistance with restoration of voting rights.

“I appreciate the Advancement Project’s ongoing support for these events,” said David. “Too many members of our community — particularly in this neighborhood — are denied the right to vote because of a mistake in their past that they have already paid for. if you are convicted of a crime and have paid you debt to society, your right to vote and to participate in the democratic process should be restored automatically.”
