After attending Caleb’s back to school night at Maury Elementary School, David and Shayna came home yesterday to another overflow crowd at Campaign Central, where supporters of all ages and from all across the 45th District gathered to do the grassroots work that will deliver victory on Nov. 6.
“Shayna and I keep expecting one of these Volunteer Nights to be slow — after all, after two and half years of doing this, we can’t always turn out new people, and we can’t always get through our entire workload, right?” said David.
“But once again, the house was absolutely packed, we welcomed five new volunteers, and we got through hundreds of contacts to voters and all manner of other work.”
“Thanks to you giving your time and energy to our cause, we continue to run the kind of positive, grassroots campaign that I’m confident will result in victory in November,” said David, thanking the crew. “I am so incredibly blessed and honored to have friends like you on our team.”

The Jefferson Manor neighborhood in the Fairfax part of the 45th District celebrated the community’s 60th anniversary Saturday with a nieghborhood picnic at Jefferson Manor park. David stopped by to congratulate residents, who have worked hard over the past several years to revitalize the community.
“Thanks largely to the efforts of engaged citizens, Jefferson Manor has transformed from an at-risk neighborhood to a diverse and up-and-coming community,”
said David. “We have many challenges — especially when it comes to rehabilitating and maintaining the roads and sidewalks here — but we face them together. It’s an honor to work with people like Chris Soule, Tom Rickert, Josh Delmonico, and everyone who is giving their time and energy to strengthen this community for the future.”

David joined families and other invited guests at the construction site of the Pentagon Memorial today for a special ceremony and tour to mark one year from completing the construction of the memorial to honor those killed in the attack on the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001.
“For all of us who lost loved ones, this is hallowed ground,” said Jim Laychak of Alexandria, the president of the Pentagon Memorial Fund, whose brother, David, was killed in the attack. Laychak acknowledged the tremendous energy a
nd effort on the part of the victims’ families and other supporters to build the memorial.
“Congratulations to Jim and everyone at the Pentagon Memorial Fund for bringing us to this point,” said David, who was an Air Force officer on duty inside the Pentagon when it was attacked. “Now that the memorial is taking shape, you can see what a moving tribute it will be to each of the 184 victims.”
