“Mr. Englin, a former Air Force officer and now an at-home dad, has represented Alexandria in Richmond conscientiously for the past two years. A grass roots campaigner and communicator, Englin spoke against the proposed Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage and supported measures that protect affordable housing for the elderly and persons with disabilities. He supported Gov. Kaine’s universal access to pre-school initiative and has stated that K-12 education is ‘off the table’ when it comes to making budget cuts. He has learned the value of collaboration in the polarized Richmond atmosphere but also adds heft to the increasingly powerful Northern Virginia Democratic legislative team.“
