David joined dozens of fire fighters, paramedics, and other public safety workers and their families at the Ivy Hill Cemetery today for the Alexandria Fire Department’s Annual Memorial Service and Wreath Laying. The ceremony honors the memory of members of the Alexandria Fire Department who have died in the line of duty, as well as retired members of the department who have died during the previous year.
“We are fortunate to have men and women who are willing to risk their own lives to protect us from harm, and it’s only right that we honor their service and their sacrifice,” said David.
Following remarks by Rep. Jim Moran, Mayor Bill Euille, and Fire Chief Adam Thiel, the names of the fallen fire fighters were read aloud, and a wreath was laid at the foot of the City’s Fire Fighters’ Memorial.
