Alexandria – NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia announced today that it endorses Del. David Englin (D-45) for re-election to the House of Delegates in this year’s Nov. 3 election.
“Delegate Englin is one of our most ardent supporters in Richmond and an enthusiastic defender of reproductive freedom for all Virginians,” said Tarina Keene, Executive Director, NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia. “During his four years in office, Delegate Englin has actively fought against efforts to deny access and funding to women’s health services, and he has maintained a 100 percent pro-choice voting record. This year, he was the chief co-patron of the Birth Control Protection Act and he patroned the Pharmacy Refusal Notification Act requiring pharmacists to post signs warning women when they refuse to fill birth control prescriptions. It is an honor and a pleasure to endorse such a steadfast advocate of choice and women. Delegate Englin is a true choice champion.”
“When we ensure access to contraception and accurate sex education, we empower women socially and economically and we reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, which is the best way to reduce abortions,” said Englin. “I look forward to continuing to work with NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia to promote prevention and contraception, to defend the right of every person to determine his or her own reproductive destiny, and to keep the government out of these very difficult and personal decisions.”
NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia is a grassroots organization focused on guaranteeing every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.
Delegate David Englin is currently serving his second term in the Virginia House of Delegates, where he represents the 45th District, which includes parts of the City of Alexandria, Fairfax County, and Arlington County. He faces a Republican challenger in the upcoming Nov. 3 election.
