Alexandria – The political action arm of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, whose 1,100 member companies represent more than 200,000 employees, announced Friday that it endorses Del. David Englin (D-45) for re-election to the House of Delegates in this year’s election Nov. 3.
“Northern Virginia Technology Council’s TechPAC is pleased to endorse David’s re-election to the Virginia House of Delegates. He has been an advocate for issues of importance to Northern Virginia’s technology community, including long-term transportation funding initiatives,” said Dendy Young, NVTC TechPAC chairman. “We look forward to working with him to build a better technology future.”
“These high-tech businesses are the backbone of Northern Virginia’s economy, and their success has helped our region weather the recession better than most,” said Englin. “I especially appreciate NVTC’s advocacy for responsible, long-term transportation solutions so we can protect our economy and our quality of life without putting public education, public safety, heath care, and the environment at risk. I’m honored to have such strong support from our area’s business community, and I look forward to continuing our work together to make life better for individuals and families throughout the Commonwealth.” Continue reading ‘Northern Virginia’s technology businesses endorse Del. The current editions of the Alexandria Gazette Packet and the Alexandria Times include this letter to the editor sharing examples of how hard David works for his constituents:
To the Editor:
As a political Independent who has supported both Democrats and Republicans, I appreciate your coverage of the 45th District House of Delegates race, and I have been deeply disappointed to read the attacks on Delegate David Englin.
On my first day in my new home in Old Town in 2005, David knocked on my door to introduce himself, and he asked me if there was anything he could do for me. With no small degree of skepticism for the outcome I said yes, there was. To my surprise and delight he did all that he promised to do and more.
Alexandria – The advocacy arm of America’s most trusted provider of reproductive health care today announced that it endorses Del. David Englin (D-45) for re-election to the House of Delegates in this year’s election Nov. 3.
“Planned Parenthood is proud to endorse David Englin for Delegate,” said Jessica Honke, Director of Public Policy, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia. “As a member of the Virginia House of Delegates he has consistently supported quality health care for women, comprehensive sex education to keep our young people healthy, and a commitment to investing in prevention programs including family planning services, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment and breast cancer screenings. At a time when more and more families in Virginia are uninsured and under financial strain, we need elected officials like Delegate Englin who will stand up for health care, not create barriers.”
An overflow turnout of Team Englin volunteers converged on Campaign Central (a.k.a.: David and Shayna’s home) last night for another successful evening of grassroots action, followed by an impromptu speech-watching party as the assembled crowd was inspired by President Obama’s address to Congress demanding action on health care reform.
“Thanks to your hard work, we reached hundreds of voters at their doors, on the phones, and in the mail, and we assembled hundreds of yard signs,” said David. “With friends like you working so hard for our collective future, I’m confident we will win on Nov. 3.”
David spent the early part of the evening knocking on doors and talking with voters in the Arlington part of the 45th District, and then he met with the Fairlington Citizens Association to discuss how they can help protect our neighborhoods from the I-395/95 HOT Lanes project.

The latest editions of the Alexandria Gazette Packet and the Arlington Connection include this letter to the editor setting the record straight in response to Republican attacks on David’s leadership on the statewide smoke-free restaurants bill, which goes into effect Dec. 1.
