Planned Parenthood endorses Englin as leader “who will stand up for health care, not create barriers”

plannedparenthoodAlexandria – The advocacy arm of America’s most trusted provider of reproductive health care today announced that it endorses Del. David Englin (D-45) for re-election to the House of Delegates in this year’s election Nov. 3.

“Planned Parenthood is proud to endorse David Englin for Delegate,” said Jessica Honke, Director of Public Policy, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia. “As a member of the Virginia House of Delegates he has consistently supported quality health care for women, comprehensive sex education to keep our young people healthy, and a commitment to investing in prevention programs including family planning services, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment and breast cancer screenings. At a time when more and more families in Virginia are uninsured and under financial strain, we need elected officials like Delegate Englin who will stand up for health care, not create barriers.”

“I’ve been proud to work closely with Planned Parenthood in the General Assembly fighting for policies and funds to provide quality, affordable reproductive health care — including primary care, cancer screenings, and family planning services — to meet the needs of families throughout Virginia,” said Englin. “The battle to protect access to reproductive health care services is primarily waged at the state level, and as long as I am your Delegate, I will continue fighting to defend reproductive freedom, to promote prevention as the best way to reduce unintended pregnancies, and to ensure quality, affordable health care for women who choose to become pregnant — especially poor women for whom Planned Parenthood is their primary source of care.”

Planned Parenthood’s skilled health care professionals are dedicated to offering men, women, and teens high-quality, affordable medical care. One in four American women has chosen Planned Parenthood for health care at least once in her life. For more information about Planned Parenthood, visit www.plannedparenthood.org.
